It prevents dangerous accidents and injury that can occur with standard tools. Always use insulated tools as a secondary source of protection, not in place of personal protective equipment. Whenever possible, de-energize lines and equipment before working on or around them.
Every tool should be inspected prior to each use for cracks, cuts or any other apparent damage. The two-color insulation simplifies spotting a coating that is damaged and out of compliance. If the YELLOW under layer becomes visible through the ORANGE outer layer, the tool is no longer safe for hot work use and should be replaced. This extra layer of insulation provides an extra level of protection.
