The PX-Q500 FLASHpistol™ Optical Leak Detection Set (OLDS) from Photonix Technologies is the most unique fiber optic diagnostic tool available. Use it to locate energy leaks in fiber optic systems due to splice loss, connector loss, breakage or bending and to identify fibers over long distances. This sensitive light-finding instrument is the solution when no other tool will work. Use it to optimize mechanical splices and connectors.
By simply sweeping over a fiber, the leak detection probe will give an audio and visual indication whenever it encounters a light loss point. Often performing the same function as a visible laser source, it's designed for use in OTDR dead zone areas or splice enclosures where exact pinpointing of faults is critical. The major advantage over a visible laser, however, is that the FLASHpistol can "see" faults in bright room light through all coded fiber colors in fusion or mechanical splices. Use this tool to detect connector endface splatter. It provides connector panel port identification for long and short distances.
