Specialized Products strives to provide quality telecom cable tools by selecting the top name brands in the industry. Burndy and Thomas & Betts are the leading companies in the telecommunication tools industry that offer high-quality wire and cable connection products including, manual and hydraulic compression crimpers and cutters, crimper dies, H/C taps and compression lugs. These specialized telecom cable tools are designed to assist cable installation and contracting professionals with a number of connection needs. Burndy and Thomas & Betts both offer separate systems of coordinating compression crimpers, dies and lugs designed to reduce the difficulty of the hardest installation jobs and make post inspections simple.
Burndy Crimpers
Burndy crimpers are designed to crimp lugs, splices and H/C tap connections with reliable and efficient precision. Specialized Products offers Burndy hydraulic crimpers and battery operated compression crimpers, as well as hand and mechanical crimpers for smaller jobs. Burndy hydraulic crimpers and battery operated compression crimpers come in the handheld and remote-controlled designs and are a fast and consistent solution for installers who need to make multiple installation connections or need to work with larger wires and cables. With ranges of 6 to 15 tons of compression force, these crimpers ensure that a reliable connection is being crimped. Burndy hand and ratcheting compression crimpers are hand-operated crimpers. These crimpers offer a cost-effective solution for crimping wire and cable connections from #22 to 4/0AWG sizes and provide a sturdy and dependable addition to any installer's tool box.
Thomas & Betts Crimpers
Thomas & Betts crimpers are designed to deliver consistent results when crimping splices, lugs, and H/C-tap connections. Specialized Products offers both Thomas & Betts hydraulic crimpers and mechanical compression crimpers. Thomas & Betts hydraulic crimpers come in easily portable plug-in and cordless designs that are perfect for making fast and consistent installation connections that work with larger wires and cables. With compression force ranges of 1 to 15 tons, these crimpers ensure that a reliable connection is being crimped. The mechanical and compression-type ratcheting crimpers designed by Thomas & Betts are hand-operated crimpers. These crimpers offer an economical solution for crimping wire and cable connections for a variety of wire sizes and provide a safe and reliable addition to the installer's arsenal.
Crimping Dies
Burndy and Thomas & Betts offer crimping dies that working in conjunction with crimping tools to provide steady connections for the electrical, telecom, MRO and CM&R industries. These dies are mainly used for crimping lugs, splices, pigtails and H/C-taps in wiring and cable systems. Both Burndy and T&B dies feature a color indicator which will match the lug, splice, H-tap or C-tap connector that it will crimp. They are part of separate color-coded connection systems where cable size is represented by a corresponding color on lugs, taps and dies. This color-coded system helps simplify the installer’s job by making it easy to find an appropriate die to crimp the connector. Both sets of dies also simplify inspections by embossing a die index number on copper lugs, splices, H-taps and C-taps which match the index number on these connections. Specialized Products carries Burndy Dies that come in the U, W and C/H formats and measure up the 750MCM size. We also carry Thomas & Betts dies that measure up to 750MCM in size.
H/C Taps
The H/C taps made by Burndy and Thomas & Betts are used for making copper tap and parallel connections and manufactured to provide maximum flexibility in the placement cable systems. They are fashioned for permanent pig-tailing and two-way splicing as well as tapping an unbroken main. These taps are made from electrolytic copper and are plated for corrosion and oxidation resistance. Each brand of taps is also designed to provide insulated protection for your cables while keeping out dust. Both Burndy H/C taps and Thomas & Betts H/C Taps are all marked to show cable size and are color-coded to match the correct installation die in conjunction with their respective color-coding systems.
Compression Lugs
Compression Lugs are made for use with copper conductors assuring low resistance, high conductivity and high pullout values to provide dependable connections for the electrical and telecommunications, industrial and energy industries. They are marked to show cable size with bands that correspond to color markings on the proper installation die and note the die index number. Two-hole lugs are ideal for bus bar applications that require two bolts to prevent lug rotation. One-hole lugs intended for standard use. Long-barrel lugs are used for heavy-duty industrial applications which require more mechanical strength. Short-barrel lugs are for more regular-duty applications and work well in confined spaces. Both Burndy lugs and Thomas & Betts lugs provide a permanent connection, in central office power and grounding applications, with a high degree of reliability.
Hydraulic Cable Cutters
Both Burndy and Thomas & Betts carry hydraulic cable cutters are designed to cut cables and cable ends to specific lengths or specifications without causing damage to the remaining wires or cable. These hydraulic cable cutters are steel-bladed cutters that are capable of easily slicing through thick cables and wires. The hydraulic cable cutters designed by Burndy are able to slice through up to 750 kcmil hard drawn copper cable, up to 1000 kcmil soft drawn copper cable and up to 2" O.D. aluminum cable. The hydraulic cable cutters designed by Thomas & Betts use 14-tons of compression to cut copper, aluminum and telecommunication cables up to 3-1/4" O.D. |
