The EXFO TK-FF FiberFinder Kit features a LFD-300 Live Fiber Detector and a TG-300 Tone Generator. Model LFD-300 is a triple test tool -- live fiber identifier, live fiber detector and dark fiber identifier -- for truly efficient fiber management. Using FiberFinder functionality, it pinpoints a specific live fiber. This test tool induces minimal loss of 1 dB for any fiber at any wavelength. Use it to locate a particular dark fiber with 270-Hz, 1-kHz or 2-kHz tone recognition. It also measures power transmitted on fiber.
End guesswork by pinpointing live and dark fibers. Performing network upgrade or optical testing requires a fiber to be disconnected. This is often easier said than done since finding the right connection can be tricky, mainly because of fiber mislabelling or poor record keeping. While the dark fiber can be identified using a 270-Hz, 1-kHz or 2-kHz tone generator, the live fiber identification technique often involves long delays and can result in unnecessary service disruption. Having one technician pull one end of a patchcord with another technician trying to identify which cord is moving at the other end is a thing of the past.
EXFO created a better way with the TG-300 non-intrusive, non-disruptive clip-on signature Tone Generator based on FiberFinder technology. When used with the innovative Live Fiber Detector, this combination enables technicians to identify a specific live fiber without having to disconnect it and, above all, without having to guess. This brings key benefits. It prevents network outages that result from fiber detection/identification procedures. The minimized need to access the network helps prevent errors.
The LFD-300 is a uniquely designed live fiber identifier. For all fiber types and wavelengths, insertion loss is a function of the bending angle. Although angles differ, the behavior remains the same. The detector brings a unique approach by monitoring power loss as the angle is changed. This way, the angle is optimized automatically for each fiber type and wavelength. Clear-cut advantages result. Maximum 1-dB loss is guaranteed for any singlemode fiber (except certain dark-coated fibers) and any wavelength. Fiber isn't damaged. Bending is always minimal, and the fiber is released when no power is detected. Traffic detection, direction identification and tone detection are 100% reliable. Get in-line, non-disruptive power measurements. Use these tools safely in long-haul applications and on high-payload fibers, unlike traditional live fiber detectors.
Model LFD-300 performs ambient light offset prior to fiber bending, which makes it less sensitive to ambient light. An external cap also can be placed on the head-end to block intense ambient light.
Includes LFD-300, TG-300, clamp for single-person tone generator operation and ac adapter in a soft bag. Each 2-pound unit is 9.75" x 1.75" x 2". One-year warranty.
