Burndy Tools Hydraulic Crimpers | Connector Dies | Lugs | C/H Taps
Burndy Tools
Burndy Tools has provided reliable wiring accessories and telecom tools for over 85 years. They are known for their long lasting quality solutions for the utilities, telecommunications, electrical, solar and wind energy industries. Burndy has engineered a system of coordinating dies, lugs and compression crimper tools to meet the needs of installation and contracting professionals. This wire and cable connection system is designed to ensure that all components work together. All compression connector dies emboss a die index number on the connection being crimped providing a permanent and easy solution to inspecting connections. Reliable connectivity is assured when using Burndy Tools, Dies and Lugs. Burndy tools offer low installation cost and yield high-quality connections.
Burndy Mechanical and Ratcheting Compression Crimper Tools
Burndy mechanical crimp tools are designed to crimp lugs, splices and H/C tap connections with hand-operated, consistent dependability. This is the most cost-effective solution for crimping wire and cable connections from #22 to 4/0AWG. Some of the Burndy compression crimpers, such as the Burndy MD7-34R Hytool Crimper, are outfitted with a ratchet mechanism to ensure a full crimp cycle with every crimp. Tools used for crimping smaller cables only are offered with a rotating die mechanism, such as the Burndy Y1MRTC, used for crimping #8AWG to #1AWG cable.
Burndy Hydraulic Crimpers and Battery-Actuated Hydraulic Crimp Tools
Burndy’s hydraulic crimpers provide installers with a fast and consistent solution when it is necessary to make multiple installation connections as well as when working with larger wire and cable. The Burndy Y500CTHS Hydraulic Crimper is a popular manual installation tool with a crimping range of #8 to 500-kcmil for copper and #8 to 350-kcmil for flexible cable and aluminum. Battery-actuated hydraulic crimpers, such as the Burndy PATRIOT PAT750CXT-18V, provide faster installation times as well as ensure larger cables are delivered the appropriate amount of crimping force to make a reliable connection. These portable, self-contained hydraulic crimpers feature anywhere from 6-tons to 15-tons of compression force. Remote crimping heads, such as the Burndy Y46C HYPRESS tool, are also available for use with a hydraulic pump (sold separately).
Burndy Dies
Burndy dies are an integral part of the "Burndy® Engineered System," working in conjunction with crimping tools to provide secure connections for the electrical, telecom, MRO and CM&R industries. Each connector die features a color indicator which will match the lug, splice, H-tap or C-tap connector that it will crimp. This color-coded system ensures installers that the proper Burndy die is being used to crimp the connector providing a reliable, long-lasting connection. Burndy Dies will emboss a die index number on copper lugs, splices, H-taps and C-taps which match the index number on these connections providing additional assurance that connections have been crimped with the correct compression dies. Burndy U-dies, W-Dies and C/H-tap dies are in stock for a variety of Burndy compression crimp tools.
Burndy Lugs
Burndy Lugs are made for use with copper conductors assuring low resistance, high conductivity and high pullout values which excel UL requirements. They are marked to show cable size with bands that correspond to color markings on the proper installation die and note the die index number. Two-hole lugs are ideal for bus bar applications that require two bolts to prevent lug rotation. One-hole lugs intended for standard use. Long-barrel Burndy lugs are designed for heavy-duty industrial applications and allow for additional crimping for added mechanical strength. Short-barrel lugs are for more regular-duty applications and work well in confined spaces. Burndy lugs provide a permanent connection, in central office power and grounding applications, with a high degree of reliability.
Burndy H-Taps and C-Taps
Burndy H-taps and C-taps are manufactured to provide maximum flexibility for the design and installation of a system. They are made for permanent pig-tailing and two-way splicing as well as for tapping to an unbroken continuous main. These Burndy connectors are made from electrolytic copper and are plated for corrosion resistance. Used for making copper tap and parallel connections, H-taps and C-taps are all marked to show cable size and are color-coded to match the correct installation die – as with the entire "Burndy® Engineered System." The exterior hard shell provides insulated protection while the inner seal keeps out dust.
